Blue Class

Welcome to the Blue Class! My name is Laura Wind, and I have been teaching the Blue Class for seven years. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education from Lewis and Clark Community College. I am married with two children.  My teaching assistant is Autumn Dyer.  This is her first year as my assistant.  Ms. Dyer received her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from John A. Logan College.  She is really excited to have been given the opportunity to work at Evangelical School for the Young Years.

The Blue Class is a 3 year-old class that meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. We focus on play-based learning for fundamental skills, such as learning colors, shapes, name recognition, numbers, and language development. This is accomplished through hands-on instruction and in our learning centers. The centers give the students opportunity to explore art, science, manipulatives, dramatic play, and building materials.

Social skills, such as taking turns, sharing, communicating needs and boundaries, and courtesy are emphasized during our mornings together as well as independence.

In other words, learning through stories, music and playing together are the best ways to prepare for the next step in education.

We love our three’s and early four’s, and are grateful to have the opportunity to be part of their school experience.
