Pink Class

Welcome to our preschool class.  My name is Jan Platto, and I have been teaching the Pink Class for eleven years.  I have a degree in Early Childhood Development and attended Lewis and Clark Community College and Sangamon State University.  I am married and have two children.  Mrs. Kristie Niemeyer assists me in teaching our class full of fun and energetic four-year-old children.

Mrs. Niemeyer is also married and has two children.

We feel that being parents ourselves helps us to be an effective teaching team.

We realize that each child is someone’s whole world just like our children are to us.

We pride ourselves on treating our students in the way that we would want our children treated.

We provide developmentally appropriate hands-on activities.

Our classroom teaching methods encourage social, emotional, academic, as well as physical growth.  We concentrate on the development of the child as an individual and employ many teaching strategies within our class to help each student learn to their fullest potential.

We work daily to provide activities that we explore kindergarten readiness skills through everyday play, as well as introducing children to age appropriate individual work.  If you have any questions about our class or our curriculum, please send an email to me at jplatto@evangelical-school.org.  Be sure to check back often to see our activities throughout the year.

My name is Kristie Niemeyer, and I am the assistant teacher in the Pink Class.  This is my third-year teaching preschool here.  I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Missouri State University in Springfield, MO, and taught preschool there for several years.

I am blessed to be married and have two children.  Along with being a stay-at-home mom, I have volunteered for the past 12 years teaching at my church in the nursery, VBS, and AWANA.  I truly believe children are a gift from God and should be treated that way.
